NFL legendary wide receiver Randy Moss didn’t mince words when addressing Pro Football Hall of Fame voters snubbing his former coach, Bill Belichick, from the Hall. Belichick’s name appeared on the ballot for the first time this year, but he will have to wait one more year to get inducted into the HOF.

The decision sparked plenty of reactions from former NFL players. Things got worse after New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft also didn’t make it. During a Sunday appearance on ESPN’s “NFL Countdown,” Moss sent a strong message to the voters and the people who put them there. He stated that if they weren’t a player or a coach, they shouldn’t have a say on who gets in.
“I’m not gon’ to really sit up here and just badmouth the Hall, ’cause there are some guys that just got selected to this year’s Pro Football Hall of Fame that I do not want to take the light from,” Moss said. “But one thing about not electing Robert Kraft, not electing Bill Belichick, the one thing that I would talk to all the voters. I really believe, as a football player, if you didn’t play it, if you didn’t coach it, you shouldn’t have a vote. I don’t care who you are, I don’t care how you feel about it. Like I said, I don’t wanna take no shine away from the guys elected today, and that’s it for me.”
Randy Moss was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2018, following a terrific career as one of the greatest wide receivers the game has ever seen. Eight years later, Belichick had the chance to join him in the Hall, but things didn’t go as expected.
Deion Sanders expressed Randy Moss’ opinion two days before
Moss wasn’t the only legend who thought former players and coaches should be the ones voting, not writers and journalists. On Friday, he told Kevin Clark on “This is Football” that only people already in the Hall of Fame should allow or deny entrance to candidates.
“I wouldn’t want the grinch who stole Christmas voting on a beauty pageant,” Sanders said.
The Belichick situation could result in major changes in the voting process.
