The Seattle Seahawks made their final roster moves of the 2025-2026 season ahead of Super Bowl LX Saturday afternoon.
They elevated running backs Cam Akers and Velus Jones Jr. from the practice squad.
The Seahawks made these same exact elevations ahead of the NFC Championship game. After losing Zach Charbonnet in the divisional round versus the San Francisco 49ers to an ACL injury, they’ve prioritized running back depth in their final roster moves. George Holani has also returned to full health and backed up lead back Kenneth Walker III in recent weeks. Akers and Jones give the team extra options behind the starter and backup at the team’s thinnest position depth wise.
With the New England Patriots featuring a stout run defense led by defensive tackles Milton Williams and Christian Barmore, Seattle needs the depth more than ever. They also need different profiles at the position. While Walker is elite at running the football, the roster needs to be filled out with backs who can pass protect. Holani helps with that, and Akers and Jones would need to majorly if called upon. If Walker has to come out, the team would be pass heavy and need to trust them.
