International Relations and Cooperation Minister Ronald Lamola has arrived in the South Sudan capital Juba.
Minister Lamola’s visit serves as a precursor to a Peace and Security Council Meeting of the AU next week, which will assess the worrisome security situation in South Sudan.
It precedes the 39th AU Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government.
South Sudan is led by a revitalized transitional government of national unity.
This year marks a pivotal moment for Juba, as the country is set to hold its first-ever elections since gaining independence from Sudan in July 2011.
