Michigan State football has added another kicker to its roster via the transfer portal.
Charlotte transfer kicker Liam Boyd announced his commitment to Michigan State on Tuesday evening. Boyd posted on his social media X account to announce his commitment to the Spartans.
Boyd started for Charlotte this past season, hitting nine of 12 field goal attempts with a long of 42 yards. He was also a perfect 15 for 15 on extra points in his lone year with the 49ers.
Prior to this past season at Charlotte, Boyd was at North Carolina and Clemson where he served primarily as the kickoff specialist. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
Boyd will have an opportunity to contend for the starting kicker duties on next year’s team, and provided additional competition to a solid special teams room. This is a nice pickup for the Spartans as it’ll be a benefit to have another experienced kicker on the roster.
