Minnesota United head coach Eric Ramsay is “under consideration” for the suddenly vacant job at Chelsea, according to The Guardian on Thursday.
The English Premier League club parted ways with Enzo Maresca on Thursday and Ramsay’s name was immediately included in the list of potential candidates.
Reporter Jacob Steinberg said a “handful of candidates are in the frame, including the Porto manager, Francesco Farioli, with Chelsea hopeful of making an appointment in the next few days.” Ramsay was mentioned as a candidate in the same paragraph.
Ramsay coached Chelsea’s Under-23 squad from 2019-21 and was an assistant at Manchester United’s first team before coming to MNUFC.
With Minnesota, Ramsay took the Loons to two straight Wester Conference semifinals in 2024 and ’25. He also led United to the U.S. Open Cup semifinal in 2025.
Ramsay was linked to a few jobs in England last winter, including Southampton, but he returned to Minnesota.
