After beating the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night at Lucas Oil Stadium, the San Francisco 49ers are back in action on Sunday for another primetime matchup, this time against the Chicago Bears at Levi’s Stadium.
With these two teams still fighting for playoff seeding, this game will have everyone’s attention for the national broadcast, but fantasy owners will be just as glued in because this is the championship in most leagues.
Before the Sunday night showdown, let’s take a look at what fantasy owners should be doing with their 49ers this week to try and win a title:
QB Brock Purdy: START
Purdy threw for five touchdowns against the Colts and is coming off winning NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors. This year, only seven quarterbacks have averaged more fantasy points per game than Purdy, and one of those is Patrick Mahomes, who won’t be playing in Week 17. Even possibly without two of his best weapons this week, he should get the start.
RB Christian McCaffrey: START
Chicago may be a top-10 defense against opposing running backs in fantasy football, but McCaffrey’s usage is simply too much to leave him on the bench.
WR Jauan Jennings: START
Jennings has been a WR3 or flex play this year, but he’s found the end zone in six of his last seven games, scoring twice against the Tennessee Titans in Week 15. As the team’s primary receiver, he should probably get the start.
TE George Kittle: SIT
Kittle didn’t finish last week’s battle with the Colts due to an ankle injury that he tried to play through. He didn’t practice all week, and with the playoffs in just a few weeks, they may not try to push it. Even if he’s active, he may be more of a decoy than anything.
D/ST: SIT
New Bears head coach and offensive playcaller Ben Johnson can present plenty of problems for the 49ers defense, which is without their two best players. After getting carved up by 44-year-old Philip Rivers last week, it’s hard to have must confidence in the group right now.
