It appears Michigan State football is retaining one of its top defensive players from last year’s team.
There will be no transfer portal for Michigan State linebacker Jordan Hall, who announced on Tuesday that he will return for his senior season with the Spartans. Hall posted a video on his social media channel on Tuesday that wrapped up with this simple statement: “I’m back.”
Hall was arguably the Spartans’ top defensive player this past season, appearing in all 12 games and playing through injuries along the way. He ended the season with 88 tackles (4.5 for loss), 2.5 sacks, one interception, one fumble recovery and three forced fumbles. He was also one of the Spartans captains and a clear leader for Michigan State this year.
Getting back Hall will reinforce the Spartans defense next year and certainly make that unit better. There was some concern with the coaching change that he’d explore other options via the portal, but that will not be the case — which is certainly an early Christmas present for new head coach Pat Fitzgerald and the Spartans.
