Write about football long enough, and you begin watching many of the games in an attempt to find the best story. It isn’t a difficult task when watching the Baltimore Ravens.
Are you looking for horror? Might we interest you in watching a Ravens game at M&T Bank Stadium? Looking for drama and intrigue? Check out Baltimore’s offense and defense during a road game.
On Sunday, we were treated to a modern-day version of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. One minute, Baltimore scores at will and can’t stop anyone. The next minute, they’re elite defensively, but the offense struggles. Don’t look now, but the Ravens are seemingly a better football team on the road than at home.
On Thanksgiving, Baltimore lost to the Cincinnati Bengals by 18 points. Seventeen days later, they beat that same Bengals team by 24 and didn’t allow them to score a single point. Confused? So is everyone else, but here comes the story. This season’s second installment of Ravens vs. Bengals provided some drama.
The Ravens must shed their Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde persona by kickoff of their game vs. the Patriots.
There we were in the fourth quarter with the Bengals driving. A Ravens victory seemed inevitable. The only question or drama in this one was about whether they would preserve a shutout. That helped birth one of the more exciting moments of Baltimore’s regular season.
Work smarter, not harder 🤣
Kyle Van Noy picked it off, then handed it to the faster Alohi Gilman, who took it to the house!

See what we mean? Even if you don’t have a dog in the fight, you have to appreciate the story there, but that begs a question. Which Baltimore Ravens team will show up to play an excellent New England Patriots team during Week 16 in Foxborough?
If you’re a Ravens fan, which we assume you are, we hope you see the guys who have shown up on the road lately, and that Lamar Jackson finally shakes off all the rust. Baltimore can’t expect a win if they offer a repeat of what we have seen from their two-time MVP.
This is a must-win, and another up-and-down performance will undoubtedly produce a loss and, maybe, the final nail in the coffin of what was supposed to be a promising 30th anniversary season.
