On Saturday, USC got some good news as the Trojans announced that running back Waymond Jordan will return for the 2026 season. Jordan rushed for 576 yards and five touchdowns over USC’s first six games of 2025, before suffering an ankle injury that kept him out for the second half of the regular season.
During Jordan’s absence, redshirt freshman walk-on King Miller emerged as the Trojans’ top running back. Miller currently has 831 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground on the season, and will have the opportunity to add to those numbers in the Alamo Bowl against TCU later this month.
With Miller also set to return to USC next year, the Trojans will bring back two great running backs in 2026. Could Jordan and Miller become one of the top running back duos in the country?
The possibility of such is certainly not crazy. With Miller not seeing significant playing time until after Jordan and Eli Sanders went down against Michigan, both players put up good numbers in relatively limited playing time in 2025. If both players are able to remain healthy in 2026, USC should have a top-tier two-headed monster at the position.
It will be interesting to see how the Trojans divide up carries at the position next year. Having to choose which top-tier back to give the ball to is a great problem to have, and one that the Trojans could experience next year for the first time since the days of Reggie Bush and LenDale White.
