On3 just released their 2025 Freshman All-American team, and two Georgia Bulldogs made the list: defensive lineman Elijah Griffin and offensive lineman Dontrell Glover. Both freshman were crucial in holding down the trenches for the Bulldogs.
Glover was a three-star signee and he faced an uphill battle for the starting job in training camp. However, with redshirt freshman Daniel Calhoun suffering a foot injury in the spring and Juan Gaston looking raw, Glover earned enough trust to be the starting right guard. He performed admirably, generating a 63.1 grade from Pro Football Focus, including a 71.3 pass-blocking grade and a 61.8 run-blocking grade.
Griffin had sky-high expectations coming out of high school. He was a five-star prospect and the No. 3 recruit in the nation, and he was selected on On3’s preseason freshman All-American team. He played pretty well, although his stat sheet doesn’t show it, as he generated just 18 tackles, a pass deflection, and a sack. He had a total PFF grade of 68.7, with a run-defense grade of 70.1 and pass-rush grade of 65.1.
A few Georgia freshman missed the cut. Former five-star offensive lineman Juan Gaston was selected on the preseason freshman All-American team, and he had 460 snaps this year, but he had just a 58.0 PFF grade. He’ll probably be first in line for a starting job next year. Former four-star Elyiss Williams was a strong pass-catching tight end behind Oscar Delp and Lawson Luckie, but he only had 128 total snaps and was mostly used as a blocker after a freak injury to Ethan Barbour.
Regardless, Georgia usually gets the most out of their freshman players, so don’t be surprised if more players from the stacked class of 2025 get a chance to start for the Bulldogs next year. Freshman defensive back Rasean Dinkins had a breakout game for the Bulldogs in the SEC championship against Alabama.
