Jake LaRavia’s first season as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers has been up and down, especially offensively. While he’s averaging 8.5 points in 24.5 minutes a game and shooting a decent 46% from the field, he has put up meaningful offensive numbers only about once every few games.
But it hasn’t been due to a lack of effort. During Sunday’s win over the Philadelphia 76ers, he collided with guard Gabe Vincent and had to momentarily leave the court. He finished 1-of-4 from the field and had four points and two rebounds in 17 minutes.
He later posted a photo of what resulted from that collision, and it looked painful.

On Saturday, the forward admitted that he had a root canal as a result of that incident this past Sunday, and he said that, at least for the moment, he has had to give up one of his favorite foods.
Jake LaRavia had a root canal to fix his front tooth after it was jarred loose against Philadelphia last weekend.
The biggest adjustment so far, other than wearing a mouthguard during games?

After the Lakers’ lack of defense got exposed in their Emirates NBA Cup quarterfinal round loss on Wednesday to the San Antonio Spurs, they could use more defense and physicality, not to mention a little more offensive production, from LaRavia. He seems like the type of player who will be up for such a challenge, even if it may result in the need for another dental procedure and more time away from apples.
