Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua made NFL history with electric performances last week, and they have been honored by the NFL as the Week 14 Offensive Players of the Week.
Allen earned AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors as he led the Bills to a 39-34 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. In the win, he tallied 251 passing yards and three passing touchdowns through the air while adding 78 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown with his legs. This marked the eighth-year veteran’s 50th career NFL game with both a passing and a rushing touchdown, setting a new NFL record. He also became the first-ever NFL player to record at least 250 passing yards, 75 rushing yards, three touchdown passes, and a rushing touchdown in two separate career games.
The award marks the third time this season and the 18th time in Allen’s career that he has won the award. He is now tied with Pro Football Hall of Famer Dan Marino and Ben Roethlisberger for the fifth-most Player of the Week awards won by a quarterback, only behind Tom Brady, Pro Football Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Aaron Rodgers.
Nacua was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week as he hauled in seven receptions for 167 yards and two touchdowns in a 45-17 victory for the Rams against the Arizona Cardinals. In the win, Nacua recorded his 277th-career reception, giving him the NFL record for the most receptions by a player in his first 40 career games all-time.
He also had his fifth-career game with 160-or-more receiving yards and a receiving touchdown, making him one of just two NFL players in history (alongside Justin Jefferson) with at least five such performances during the first three seasons of the Super Bowl era of the sport. Nacua led the NFL in both receiving yards and scrimmage yards in Week 14.
This honor marks the second Player of the Week award this season for Nacua, who also won the award in Week 4, and marks the third time in his young career that he has earned the award. This makes him just the second Rams wide receiver to earn the honor three times, with the other being Pro Football Hall of Famer Isaac Bruce.
