The family of late Deputy National Police Commissioner for Crime Detection, Lieutenant General Sindile Mfazi, has welcomed the decision by police to investigate his death as murder.
Initially, his death was classified as a result of COVID-19 complications in 2021.
Thursday marked five years since Mfazi’s passing.
His widow, Lindelwa, has accused the SAPS of dragging their feet in investigating his death.
“The silence about the way that he died was very traumatising and killing us inside. Carrying the burden on your own, knowing all what happened, but you can not take it somewhere. You don’t know where you can look for help because you were looking for help at SAPS, they don’t entertain you.”
