After trading for Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Miami Heat must be hopeful they can make another move. Unfortunately for Miami, it doesn’t have many assets at the moment.
The Heat still have some players they could move on from, so I don’t want to count anything out, but they’d have to get creative if they want to make a blockbuster deal. It remains uncertain how many blockbuster deals are really out there for Miami to make, but one was recently brought up.
The idea would be to add Kevin Durant, who is still one of the greatest players the NBA has ever seen.
Durant might not be the same type of player he was a few years ago as he’s gotten older, but we’re still talking about one of the elite players in this league, and a guy who can score the basketball at a ridiculous level.
Having him, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Bam Adebayo would simply be ridiculous. Unfortunately, however, one writer recently shut down the idea of that happening, adding that it’s likely just too expensive for the Heat.
“With all that, the Heat, who made a clear move to contend, need either more depth or star power. The one move that made sense for the Heat getting another star was former Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant due to his low asking price. The asking price that is tied to Durant is likely much higher. With the Heat unloading almost all of their valuable trade assets in the deal for Antetokounmpo becomes almost impossible,” Gray Deyo wrote.
I don’t want to say anything is impossible in the NBA, as we’ve seen that not be the case in recent years. However, adding a player like Durant for Miami just doesn’t seem very likely right now. The Heat will likely have to go in a few different directions, though they should still find a way to add some decent players because of where they are and what they have.
