The News Leader readers have chosen their male athlete of the year.
Readers chose Riverheads’ baseball standout Brody Phillips with 55% of the nearly 78,000 votes cast. Phillips was a first team all-state shortstop in Class 1, as well as earning first team all-Region 1B and all-Shenandoah District shortstop. He was also a second team all-Region 1B and Shenandoah District pitcher for the Gladiators.
Phillips helped lead Riverheads to the Region 1B championship and the Class 1 state semifinals.
