The Vancouver Canucks are squarely in the middle of a rebuild.
But as July arrives and NHL free agency opens, they’ve got a lot of possibilities. They already made a trade for Brendan Gallagher, so it’s clear they wouldn’t mind some veteran presence on their roster, too.
All eyes will be on Elias Pettersson, as well, an obvious trade candidate if the Canucks can find a taker for his big contract.
This offseason won’t define the entire future of Vancouver, but it’s important for the Canucks to get things pointing in the right direction.

WEDNESDAY
7 p.m.: The Canucks signed Jamie Oleksiak to a two-year, $5 million annual contract, per Elliotte Friedman.
4:10 p.m.: The Canucks are reportedly trading defenseman Marcus Pettersson to the New York Rangers.
2:35 p.m.: Elliotte Friedman reports that Trey Fix-Wolansky has signed with the Canucks.
2:28 p.m.: Elliotte Friedman reports that Teddy Blueger is signing with Toronto.
1:40 p.m.: The Canucks have signed Luke Schenn to a one-year, $2.25 million contract.
1:25 p.m.: Danila Klimovich, who most recently played for AHL Abbotsford, is signing with the Flyers.
1:20 p.m.: The Canucks have signed Paul Cotter to a one-year, $2.15 million contract from the Devils.
8 a.m.: NHL free agency will open at 12 noon ET today.
