Almost every team in the NBA is expected to make a move for the four-time champion. But it isn’t just team officials who are trying to convince LeBron, as government officials are also attempting to land the star.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz tries to convince LeBron James to join Timberwolves
One of the teams that is expected to make a run for LeBron James are the Minnesota Timberwolves, who want to give Anthony Edwards the firepower he needs to make a serious championship run.
As such, current Minnesota Governor and former United States Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz took to X to pitch LeBron James a possible move to the Timberwolves.
All Walz did was quote the original post that said James prioritising happiness over money in free agency, tagged LeBron, and shared a screenshot that says Minnesota ranks highest in the US among states for quality of life.
As things stand, there is no word on how seriously James would consider a move to the Timberwolves, given that he has never played for a small-market team in the NBA outside of the Cavaliers, who are his hometown franchise.
Minnesota Timberwolves hoping to shock NBA world by landing LeBron James
According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, the Minnesota Timberwolves are ready to make a move for LeBron James should he be ready to join the team.
“What’s more, the Warriors do not appear to have clarity yet regarding James’ plans. Cleveland and Miami are often cited as realistic landing spots as well, and the Minnesota Timberwolves are known to have interest if he felt like shocking the basketball world with that sort of move.”
James has been a huge fan of Anthony Edwards for a long time and has experience playing alongside him during their time together at the 2024 Olympics.
Even though the Timberwolves don’t rank highly among James’ list of preferred landing spots, the opportunity to play with one of the game’s young superstars might be too tantalizing to pass up.
