Here at Seahawks Wire, we cover all news related to… you guessed it… the Seattle Seahawks. This sometimes includes the loosest connections, even ones far across the other side of the country. On Tuesday afternoon, the Jacksonville Jaguars announced a pair of promotions within their coaching staff. One coach who received a promotion is a name the 12th Man is all too familiar with: Shane Waldron, who was the Seahawks’ offensive coordinator from 2021-2023.
Waldron will now hold the title of Assistant Head Coach. This is in addition to his responsibilities of being Jacksonville’s passing game coordinator, a role he filled during the 2025 season.
The Jacksonville Jaguars announced football promotions today for Shane Waldron (Assistant Head Coach/Pass Game Coordinator) and Heath Farwell (Associate Head Coach/Special Teams Coordinator).

Waldron’s career has been one marked by struggles in recent years. His first stint as an offensive coordinator in this league was with the Seahawks after Seattle parted ways with Brian Schottenheimer. His offenses in the Pacific Northwest were largely uncreative and inconsistent, never fully utilizing his best assets – such as wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. In fact, when Waldron was relieved of his duties in Seattle and went on to be the Chicago Bears‘ offensive coordinator, JSN didn’t exactly give Bears fans a glowing review. He actually didn’t say anything, which in of itself says quite a lot.
Turns out JSN was proven right, as Waldron lasted only nine games in the Windy City before being fired as the Bears had one of the worst offenses in the league in 2024.
