Gabe Nesmith, a 5-star wing in the class of 2027, has committed to Vanderbilt basketball, he announced in a social media post.
Nesmith chose the Commodores over Providence, Ole Miss and Arizona State, among others.
“I would just say their coaching staff,” Nesmith told 247Sports. “Their coaching staff is really personal. They got to know me and my mom and dad. It was really cool. They stayed on me even when I was injured. They didn’t stop recruiting me or anything like that. It was a really good recruitment, and I just believed in Coach (Mark) Byington and how good he is as a coach. He’s been successful at Vanderbilt and everywhere he’s been.”
Nesmith is the No. 20 prospect nationally by the 247Sports Composite and the No. 6 small forward. He is 6-5, 180 pounds and from Atlanta.
Nesmith is the highest-ranked player to commit to Vanderbilt since landing Simi Shittu and Darius Garland in 2018.
