Khamzat Chimaev wants an immediate rematch against Sean Strickland after losing his middleweight title to “Tarzan” atop the UFC 328 fight card last month in Newark.
That might take a few months, thanks to this untimely injury.
“Accept the fight, don’t run, I’ll beat you anyway,” Chimaev wrote on social media. “The sooner this happens, the easier it will be to breathe.”
Chimaev helped wrap the championship title around Strickland’s waist after UFC 328.
“Because I wanted him to clean my belt,” Chimaev said.
Chimaev (15-1) may have gotten some of his confidence back after wiping the floor with Dillon Danis under the RAF banner earlier this month is St. Louis. That said, a Strickland rematch is not guaranteed with this top contender waiting patiently in the wings.
Fans in the comment section under Chimaev’s tweet were less than enthused with the idea of a Strickland rematch, instead offering a potential Joe Pyfer fight at Meta Apex in Las Vegas.
