EA Sports published their ratings for College Football 27 on Friday, and the Florida State defense is looking to bounce back from back-to-back years where their rating has decreased with each new title (CFB 25: 88 OVR, CFB 26: 82 OVR, CFB 27: 81 OVR).
FSU’s highest-rated players are vast, and include defensive tackles, edges, middle linebackers, and corners, just to name a few.
Florida State’s 10 highest-rated defensive players in College Football 27:
1. Daniel Lyons, DT — 86 overall
2. Mandrell Desir, LE — 84 overall
3. Chris Jones, MIKE — 83 overall
4. Nehemiah Chandler, CB — 82 overall
5. Ashlynd Barker, SS — 81 overall
6. Deante McCray, DT — 81 overall
7. Kevin Wynn, DT — 81 overall
8. Daryll Desir, LE — 80 overall
9. Ja’bril Rawls, CB — 79 overall
10. Mikai Gbayor, WILL — 78 overall
As a reminder, video game ratings are subjective in the eyes of the beholder, and they can improve or regress depending on the real-world results, as we saw in College Football 25 and 26.
For reference, the best defensive player in the game in 2026 is Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore at a 97 overall. The best ACC defensive player is Louisville’s Clev Lubin, a 92 overall.
For FSU and its players, they will have the opportunity to impress the ratings team and potentially improve their ratings when they play their first game against New Mexico State on Aug. 29.
