The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says Molemo “Jub” Jub Maarohanye has been released on bail following an urgent application. The rapper and TV presenter Maarohanye was arrested on Sunday. The charge arises from an altercation involving an e-hailing driver in Edenvale.
According to information before the court, police subsequently searched his residence, seized a pellet gun and arrested him.
“The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) notes the release on bail of Molemo Katleho Maarohanye, popularly known as “Jub Jub”, by the Gauteng Division of the High Court, in Johannesburg following an urgent application brought before the court. Maarohanye was arrested on 14 June 2026 and charged with pointing anything likely to lead a person to believe that it is a firearm. The charge arises from an incident involving an e-hailing driver in Edenvale,” says NPA Spokesperson Magaboke Mohlatlole.
Mohlatlole says according to information before the court, police subsequently searched his residence, seized a pellet gun and arrested him.
“The High Court granted the application and ordered his release on bail of R5 000. The matter was postponed to 22 June 2026 in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court,” adds Mohlatlole.
