Cape Town City and Magesi FC have played to a 1-All draw in a Premier Soccer League’s relegation/promotion playoff in Cape Town. City opened the scoring in the first half of the match before the visitors’ levelled matters in the second.
Cape Town City played offensively and also with some urgency and they raided Magesi FC’s goalposts on a number of occasions. The visitors defended well and dealt with the dangerous attacks. But the hosts were also let down by poor finishing on some occasions.
The visitors had scoring chances of their own at the other end. However, keeper Luca-Diana-Olario pulled two great saves to deny them. As the game went on the visitors grew in confidence. They had yet another scoring opportunity. But striker, Sifiso Luthuli, failed to convert it.
It was the hosts who opened the scoring.
Therlo Moosa scored after keeper, Elvis Chipezeze, parried the ball into his path.
Midfielder, Mcedi Vandala, levelled matters for the visitors after receiving a through ball from Luthuli.
Saturday’s final playoff between Milford and Magesi in Polokwane will decide the team that will gain automatic promotion to topflight.
