During the championship portion of the OSAA spring sports season, athletes from the Eugene-Springfield area continued to deliver outstanding performances.

Makya Alsup, Cottage Grove track and field
Cottage Grove senior Makya Alsup took second place in the Class 4A javelin with a throw of 122 feet 1 inch May 29 at the OSAA state championships.
Brooklyn Anderson, Thurston track and field
Thurston senior Brooklyn Anderson won her second consecutive Class 5A 100-meter hurdles title in 14.27 seconds May 30 at the OSAA state championships.
Anderson also placed fourth in the long jump (18-1 1/2) and seventh in the 100 (12.51).
Samara Baker, Triangle Lake track and field
Triangle Lake senior Samara Baker took second place in the Class 1A 100 hurdles in 15.84 May 29 at the OSAA state championships.
Baker also placed fifth in the 300 hurdles (48.37).
Ella Cardwell, Cottage Grove track and field
Cottage Grove senior Ella Cardwell took second place in the Class 4A girls 3,000 with a personal-best time of 10:22.19 May 29 at the OSAA state championships.
The next day, Cardwell was third in the 1,500 (4:49.3).
Valeri Gingerich, Junction City track and field
Junction City senior Valeri Gingerich took second place in the Class 4A 200 with a personal-best time of 25.76 May 30 at the OSAA state championships.
Gingerich also took third in the 100 (12.67) and ran the first leg of the Tigers’ state champion 4×400 team, which clocked 3:59.65.
Anya Griffith, Central Linn track and field
Central Linn sophomore Anya Griffith took second place in the Class 2A 1,500 in 4:45.35 May 29 at the OSAA state championships.
Griffith also placed fourth in the 400 (59.88).
Sailor Hall, Springfield track and field
Springfield junior Sailor Hall won the Class 5A discus title with a throw of 137-1 May 30 at the OSAA state championships.
Hall also placed fifth in the shot put (35-8).
Eva Johnson Hess, South Eugene track and field
South Eugene freshman Eva Johnson Hess took second place in the Class 6A 3,000 in a personal-best 9:47.08 May 29 at the OSAA state championships.
The next day, Johnson Hess was second in the 1,500 (personal-best 4:30.84).
Addison Kleinke, Churchill track and field
Churchill senior Addison Kleinke won the Class 5A pole vault title with a mark of 13-1/4 May 30 at the OSAA state championships. She also took second in the long jump (18-6 1/2).
Kleinke is the first girl in state history to win four consecutive pole vault titles.
Addison Nelson, Thurston track and field
Thurston senior Addison Nelson won the Class 5A triple jump title with a mark of 38-4 3/4 May 29 at the OSAA state championships.
The next day, Nelson took sixth in the long jump (17-5 1/2).
Cricket Phipps, North Eugene track and field
North Eugene senior Cricket Phipps won her second consecutive Class 5A 1,500 title in a personal-best 4:31.12 May 30 at the OSAA state championships.
Later that day, Phipps placed seventh in the 800 (2:21.83).
Miley Richardson, Monroe track and field
Monroe sophomore Miley Richardson won the Class 2A long jump title with a personal-best mark of 16-9 1/4 May 28 at the OSAA state championships.
Richardson also took fifth in the 400 (1:00.68).
Tori Sherman, Marist Catholic track and field
Marist Catholic junior Tori Sherman won the Class 4A 800 title in 2:15.73 May 30 at the OSAA state championships.
Ryan Thomas, Pleasant Hill track and field
Pleasant Hill senior Ryan Thomas won the Class 3A 100 title in 12.15 seconds May 29 at the OSAA state championships.
Thomas’ time is a wind-legal Class 3A state record.
