An Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) PR Councillor at the Rand West City Local Municipality in Gauteng, Mbuso Mzwandile Mthimkhulu, has been murdered.
The IFP says an unknown assailant opened fire at the 46-year-old while he was attending a community meeting in Bekkersdal on Thursday evening, before fleeing the scene.
The Party says it is shocked and saddened by Mthimkhulu’s killing, describing it as tragic, cold-blooded and deeply concerning for the country’s democracy.
It also condemned the killing, saying that no citizen, community leader, activist or public servant should ever lose their life in the course of serving the people.
