As No. 12 Iowa women’s basketball (10-1, 1-0 Big Ten) prepares to depart Iowa City ahead of its Saturday matchup against No. 1 UConn (10-0) in the Shark Beauty Women’s Champions Classic at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., the Hawkeyes will reportedly be without guard/forward Emely Rodriguez.

The source that Goodman obtained this breaking news did not specify what rule was violated, but stated that Rodriguez has the opportunity to rejoin the team if she recommits to the standards.
Through six games played this season, Rodriguez has averaged 7.2 points on 42.5% from the floor and 80% from the free-throw line, to go along with 2.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game.
This news is also a rapidly developing story, as it follows up on head coach Jan Jensen’s cryptic response on Tuesday when she was asked about Rodriguez’s status with the team.
That matchup between the Hawkeyes and Huskies will begin at 12:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on Fox.
