The African Development Bank Group has praised the Republic of Congo’s decision to grant visa free entry to African passport holders from next year.
President Denis Sassou Nguesso made the announcement as Brazzaville hosts the bank’s annual meeting.
The Republic of Congo is joining a list of countries opening their doors to African travelers, scrapping visas for African passport holders from next year.
But resistance to free movement remains in parts of the continent.
Proponents argue that a more integrated Africa could unlock trade, investment, skills transfer and economic growth.
Meanwhile, the bank’s latest industrialisation index shows Morocco overtaking South Africa as Africa’s leading industrial economy. South Africa, however, still remains a major continental force.
