The San Francisco 49ers seemingly still don’t have an answer to this whole Brandon Aiyuk situation, something that nobody was really expecting to play out just a few years ago.
Aiyuk ended up signing a massive deal with the 49ers, and when it happened, there was hope he would continue to be one of the better receivers in the NFL.
His best season came during the 2023 campaign, a year in which he averaged 17.9 yards per catch and finished with 1,342 yards, as well as seven touchdowns.
The 49ers are definitely looking to trade him, though it remains uncertain when it’s going to happen, or if any team in the NFL will be willing to take on the 28-year-old’s contract after the entire mess that he pulled in San Francisco last year.
There are a few teams that need a wide receiver more than others, including the Washington Commanders, who could pair him with Terry McLaurin.
“The Washington Commanders need a reliable receiver opposite Terry McLaurin, but they didn’t add one before drafting Antonio Williams in the third round. However, trading for Brandon Aiyuk could help address this particular need,” Kristopher Knox wrote.
There’s a lot of reason to think Aiyuk could end up with the Commanders, especially with his connection to Jayden Daniels.
However, I don’t think the Commanders will want to deal with some of the attitude problems he caused off the field last year. Sadly, that just wasn’t anything any team wants to deal with.
