Formula 1 competed in the Canadian Grand Prix, and it was a familiar scene. Kimi Antonelli and the No. 12 team for Mercedes won the Canadian Grand Prix, earning their fourth victory of the 2026 Formula 1 season. After George Russell suffered a power unit failure, Antonelli’s biggest competition was out of the picture.
The Mercedes driver has been absolutely sensational at the start of the 2026 Formula 1 season. Antonelli has four wins in the first five races and a 43-point lead over Russell in the point standings. As seen in 2025, Antonelli isn’t a lock to win the championship, but he has the inside track to continue his domination.

Lewis Hamilton was hoping to win his first race at Ferrari, but he came up short with Max Verstappen joining him on the podium. For now, Antonelli continues his domination, but with Monaco coming in a few weeks, it could be an opportunity for a non-Mercedes driver to stand atop the podium.
