The Denver Broncos didn’t change much about their team from the 2025 season to the 2026 season. They only lost John Franklin-Myers and Dre Greenlaw, while adding just Jaylen Waddle.
Those are notable moves, but in the grand scheme of things, these offseason changes weren’t significant. But, there are two major question marks for the offense heading into the 2026 training camp.
As ESPN’s Jeff Legwold highlighted, the Broncos have two major questions to answer with the offense during training camp, one from Bo Nix, the other from offensive coordinator Davis Webb.

The Bo Nix question
“Is the Broncos’ offense championship-worthy? The answer to this question starts with quarterback Bo Nix’s surgically repaired right ankle, which he has had two procedures on after fracturing it late in the Broncos’ divisional playoff win over the Buffalo Bills,” Legwold writes.
Nix, coming off this ankle injury, needs to prove he’s back and fully ready to go for the 2026 NFL season. That will begin during training camp, as he needs to be ready to go this summer to ease the worries about him heading into the season.

If Nix is back during training camp and doesn’t look hampered by his ankle injury, then there will be a lot of confidence in this offense in 2026.
The well-rounded running back room, the strong offensive line, and the wide receiver room that’s been upgraded with Waddle’s addition make for a very promising offense.
But Nix isn’t the only question mark for this offense heading into this year’s training camp and regular season.
The Davis Webb question
“But questions about the offense go beyond the QB. There is also the matter of new offensive coordinator Davis Webb calling plays instead of Payton, a significant change in how Payton has operated in his two decades as an NFL head coach,” Legwold writes.
Webb isn’t just the new offensive coordinator in Denver; he’s also calling plays now. It’s a massive change for the Broncos and for Sean Payton, who in his long NFL coaching career is trying out not calling plays for the first time.

Seeing how Webb calls plays on offense during training camp and preseason will be imperative to figuring out how things will work out for the offense in 2026.
While the players are important, a poor offensive playcaller can hold a team back in a big way. It’s going to be hard for Webb to prove he’s a good play caller during training camp, but he can at the very least get off to a good start.

Between the health of Nix coming into training camp and how well Webb takes over the offense as a first-time playcaller, taking over for Payton, there are some significant questions for the Broncos this summer.
Training camp is a very important time for the Broncos this year, as both the Nix and Webb questions should receive answers as the regular season approaches.
Broncos fans should pay close attention to training camp and the preseason, as these huge questions on Nix and Webb could finally have some answers, and hopefully, the kind the fanbase will like to hear.
