MANHATTAN — Kansas State and Kansas alumni will suit up to renew their rivalry for the 2026 edition of The Basketball Tournament, which begins on Tuesday, July 21, at Bramlage Coliseum.
Purple Reign and JHX Hoops will play the first of their three-game first-round series at 8 p.m., and it will be televised nationally on FS1.
Michael Beasley is the featured player for Kansas State, making his return to Bramlage Coliseum after playing for the Wildcats for one season in 2007-08 before becoming the second overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. Kansas features Frank Mason III.
The Basketball Tournament will have a $2 million prize to split amongst the champion in 2026. This year’s format will feature 14 teams in total, with eight alumni and six non-alumni teams on separate sides of the bracket.
K-State and Kansas faced off in Kansas City last year, with Purple Reign coming from behind to win 59-57. This series will be the second time the rivals have faced each other in this tournament, which is in its 13th year.
