Add another Green Bay Packer who used the offseason to get engaged.
Defensive end Brenton Cox Jr. was the latest to pop the question to his partner, the fourth player to do so in recent months. New backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor was the first in March, and in the last couple of weeks it was safety Evan Williams and wide receiver Jayden Reed during this break in the schedule from mini camp to training camp.
Cox, entering his fourth year with the Packers, proposed to Kaelyn Williams while the two were vacationing in Sint Maarten in the Caribbean.
The two announced their engagement in a join Instagram post on July 15.
“Future Mr. & Mrs. ❤️,” they wrote in the caption with a series of photos from the night.
While on a red carpet surrounded by rose bouquets, Cox got down on one knee as Williams, who recently received her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry, stood in front of a huge heart-shaped display.
A saxophone player played for them as a fireworks display capped off the night.
The Packers official team account congratulated the happy couple in the comments of their Instagram post. Many other players or significant others of players wished them well, too.
Reed was one of them.
“Right way bradda congrats,” the Packers’ fourth-year wide receiver wrote.
Reed proposed to Aneisha Cox, the 2025 Miss Wisconsin USA, earlier this month. And Reed might have given Cox some pointers on a proposal as they both utilized a red carpet surrounded by rose pedals for their proposals.
Cox, who went undrafted out of Florida, has been with the Packers his entire career.
As a restricted free agent, Cox re-signed with the team this offseason on a one-year, $2.5 million deal.
The 6-foot-4, 250-pound DE played in four games as a rookie in 2023, and then had had four sacks in a seven-game stretch late in the 2024 season.
However, he couldn’t build off that in 2025 due to a groin injury. He suffered the injury in the Packers’ season opener and it landed him on injured reserve until the team’s Week 16 game against the Chicago Bears on Dec. 20.
Cox finished the year with a sack and a forced fumble, both of which came in the Packers’ regular-season finale against the Minnesota Vikings. Now healthy, he’ll look to provide depth to a defensive line that will likely need it again.
The Packers first training camp practice is scheduled for Wednesday, July 29.
