Several important members of this Jacksonville Jaguars team will be entering the final year of their current contracts in 2026.
In Year 1 under James Gladstone, we saw a heavy amount of roster turnover take place last offseason. There won’t be nearly as much roster movement this year or next, but tweaks will continue as Gladstone shapes this Jaguars team in his vision.
Looking beyond the upcoming offseason, a number of Jaguars players who had key roles in 2025 and are expected to again this year will be free agents in 2027, potentially creating some difficult decisions for Gladstone.
Some good news is that the Jaguars will have a lot more salary cap flexibility next offseason to help retain some of these players. However, as it goes in the NFL, realistically, a number of these players won’t be re-signed either in 2027.

By the end of the 2025 season, nine of these players were in starting roles.
Defensive tackle should already be a priority for the Jaguars, but with Armstead and Hamilton both free agents in 2027, that underscores the need to begin planning ahead at this position group.
With Washington and Strange, Gladstone said that extension talks hadn’t started as of mid-January, when he spoke to the media. But it could be just a matter of time, although the Jaguars have through the 2026 season to finalize anything.
“Nonetheless, we feel Brenton Strange and Parker Washington are people we align with moving forward,” Gladstone said.
Johnson may have worked his way into this category as well, with his play during the second half of last season.
Walker is an extension candidate this offseason, which would keep him in Jacksonville beyond the 2026 season and also help the Jaguars’ salary cap situation.
Mundt and Long being free agents highlight why tight end could be an under-the-radar need this offseason.
Along the offensive line, Wyatt Milum could be the long-term answer at left guard for Cleveland, and the Jaguars have the option to pick up Anton Harrison’s fifth-year option for 2027 this offseason, and then potentially work out a long-term deal from there.
I would guess we can pencil in Matiscik getting an extension at somepoint over the next calendar year as well.
