October 19, 2025 – Dutch Economy Minister Vincent Karremans announced plans to meet with a Chinese government official in the coming days to discuss the ongoing dispute over the seizure of semiconductor company Nexperia. The Dutch government took control of Nexperia, a key supplier of chips used in global auto manufacturing, on September 30. This move was made to prevent the transfer of intellectual property to China, as Nexperia is a subsidiary of China’s Wingtech.
The seizure has sparked a standoff, with the Chinese government retaliating by banning exports of Nexperia’s finished products. The chips produced by Nexperia are vital for automotive supply chains, and the disruption is raising concerns over global production, particularly in the auto industry. Both sides are seeking a resolution to avoid further escalation.
