October 19, 2025 – The Indianapolis Colts have placed cornerback Charvarius Ward Sr. on injured reserve, meaning he will miss at least the next four games. The 29-year-old sustained a concussion during warmups before last weekend’s victory over the Arizona Cardinals, and as a result, missed the entire week of practice leading up to the Colts’ upcoming game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Ward’s earliest possible return will be in Week 12, when the Colts face the Kansas City Chiefs on November 23, following their bye week in Week 11.
Ward, in his first season with the Colts after stints with the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, has recorded 13 tackles and three passes defensed in four games this season. Notably, he was a key player for the Chiefs’ Super Bowl-winning team in 2019 and earned Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro honors in 2023 after a standout season that included five interceptions and 23 pass breakups, which led the NFL.
In a related move, the Colts signed running back Ameer Abdullah from their practice squad to the 53-man roster. Abdullah, 32, has appeared in two games this season, rushing three times for 13 yards and a touchdown.
