Caitlin Clark’s return to the Indiana Fever could be delayed after the star guard sustained a left ankle bone bruise earlier this month, sources reported. The injury occurred during solo training on August 7 in Phoenix, complicating her recovery from a right groin issue that has sidelined her since mid-July.
The Fever are already dealing with multiple injuries to key players. On the same day as Clark’s setback, guards Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson suffered season-ending injuries—McDonald broke her right foot, while Colson tore her left ACL. Additionally, guard Sophie Cunningham will miss the remainder of the season with an MCL injury.
Despite Clark’s absence, the Fever have managed a 7-6 record, sitting in sixth place with a 19-16 overall record. They are currently two games ahead of the ninth-place Los Angeles Sparks. Clark, 23, had been averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game in 2025. The Fever are hoping to maintain their playoff positioning with key matchups against the first-place Minnesota Lynx coming up this weekend.
